DailyBlog [Hollie's Daily Life Updates]

Dear Journal,

Today I woke up really late, later than usual, but I tried to go back to sleep nevertheless. If you're already late, might as well be very late, right? Eventually I got up and went downstairs, pouring a bowl of Coco Puffs and using the last of the milk. Shoot, out of sweet tea again. I promised myself I'd make some later, then trudged upstairs to put on my bathing suit. We're going to the beach on June 28th, so tanning is a priority. I looked over my three bathing suits. I wore the multicolored bikini last weekend at a party, so that one was out. My only other two consisted of a chevron tankini and a pink, ruffly bikini that I had been saving to wear at the beach. Unfortunately, the tankini wouldn't allow sun to reach my stomach, so I wore the pink one. Oh, well. I'll wash it later.
I walked outside to a song on the radio that I knew by heart, so I sang softly to myself as I laid out a towel on the grass. I laid down and realized the towel was too short, so I went back in to grab a second one. As I laid down for the second time, I suddenly found myself blinded by the sun. Crap, do I really have to go in again? Yes, yes I do. I hurried in, grabbed a hardcover book that I had read a half-dozen times, then stepped back out into the sun. I gently set the open book over my eyes, an instant shield versus my too-small sunglasses. I lied flat on the grass, unmoving, feeling the sun beat down on my skin, until my sister came out playing her music at full blast. I sat up, realizing a song I really don't like, and went inside once again. I came back out with my phone, turning on Spotify and smiling as one of my favorite songs came on. My sister's music didn't cease, though, so I moved my towels closer to the music player. The only con was that I now had to lay back on concrete, but it's the price you pay.
Eventually, my dad came around with a small, inflatable pool shaped like a boat. My little brother ran eagerly behind him, excited to immerse himself into cool water. I listened as water from the hose hit the sides of the pool, splashing on the water resting at the bottom. After a bit more frying, I went to the shallow pool and put both feet inside. The water felt like ice, but I slowly sat down, adjusting to the freezing temperature. Soon, my siblings came out with water guns, yelling about a water fight. Just then, my five-year-old neighbor came out to play with us, and we shot guns at each other until we were tired. Then we went inside. I had a turkey sandwich for lunch.
          That leaves me here.
                                                                               Until next time,
                                                                                                  Hollie

How Long Would I Survive The Walking Dead? QUIZ ^-^

I'm pretty sure the answer will be that I suck at this, but let's find out...

1. You see a bloodied neighbor outside your mobile home. The TV and phones are dead. What do you do first?

a. Invite him in
b. Ignore him
c. Tell him to leave
d. Barricade the door
e. Shoot him for trespassing

I'd pick b only because there's a chance he's undead. If you have any experience with these things, you don't draw attention to yourself, and you don't shoot until attacked. It's simple smarts.

2. Walkers are everywhere. You've eaten the last of your canned goods. What do you do?

a. Search nearby trailers
b. Shoot nearby walkers
c. Start hunting
d. Drive to town
e. Wait for help

See, I feel like this comes back around to the not drawing attention thing. On the other hand, you can't just do nothing. The town would be a walker-fest, considering the amount of people there. I think my plan would be to stealthily search each nearby trailer.

3. You stumble upon a locked-up cabin outside of town. What do you do now?

a. Smash the window
b. Knock loudly
c. Pick the lock
d. Shout for help
e. Keep moving

Again, you need to remain unnoticed. I would keep moving simply because it could be a trap by those insanos who kill and/or eat people. Plus, if it's locked, what's the point of wasting time and energy on getting inside?

4. You're back on the road. It's cold with no shelter in sight. What do you do now?

a. Start a fire
b. Cover yourself with leaves
c. Keep moving
d. Start backtracking
e. Climb a tree

Can zombies climb? No. Is there a chance that there will just be flat land with nothing in sight ahead? Yes. And you can't do a fire without attracting attention. Plus, I'm not sleeping without shelter. No way.

5. You find a group of survivors reluctant to take you in. What do you do now?

a. Threaten them
b. Beg them
c. Follow them
d. Move on
e. Befriend one

Even though they could be useful, it wouldn't be worth it to get shot down if they don't trust me in the first place.

6. Someone steals your supplies while you're asleep. What do you do first?

a. Steal from someone else
b. Pretend you don't notice
c. Kill your prime suspect
d. Leave your group
e. Complain until they're returned

Okay, leaving wouldn't be the best plan. Neither would being annoying. Unless you know for sure, don't try to get revenge. I guess it's just bound to happen sometimes.

7. You and a friend are trapped inside a burning building surrounded by walkers. What do you do now?

a. Call for assistance
b. Try to sneak out
c. Grab weapons. Leave friend
d. Feed friend to walkers
e. Exit with guns blasting

I think this one is kind of self-explanatory. For me, anyways.

MY RESULTS

I'd survive for... 1 1/2 weeks.

Oh.

The Selection Trilogy: A Review from My Serious Side and My Fangirl Side

CAN WE JUST TAKE A MOMENT OF SILENCE TO PRAISE KIERA CASS FOR THIS TRILOGY.
...
OKAY THE MOMENT OF SILENCE HAS ENDED. NOW LET'S GET TO THIS REVIEW.
~~ This is my personal review, K? My opinion. ~~
OFFICIAL REVIEW:
So, today I finished the third book in The Selection trilogy, The One. And can I just thank Kiera Cass for blessing me with these lovely novels? Throughout the series, I was engrossed. I couldn't get over this trilogy, and I was constantly obsessing over the latest thing in the castle or the newest feelsplosion between America and Maxon. America is one of the first female roles I've read about lately, and Kiera captured the strong femininity in a normal teenage girl perfectly. She accurately portrayed the scared yet strong emotions of a sixteen year old girl who had gone from being penniless to having fancy gowns and living in a castle.
Yes, there was a love triangle, and this might turn some potential readers off. If that's you, you stop right there. The love triangle in this series is not like the hopeless relationship ties in Twilight. This one involves America's true, valid thoughts that any girl would have. Even so, she still gets things done. She's strong and independent, and her character could do anything without the influence or approval of a man.
In the books, America is brave. She continuously stands up for her beliefs, even though she is consistently standing alone. She knows that the system for Illea is wrong, and she will state her point to anyone, including the king himself. She's not afraid to pay the price for her actions, as long as she believes in her heart that it's the right choice.
Kiera has that enchanting way of turning the character you hate most to the character you're attached to in the end, which is what she does multiple times. She also highlights the relationships between the girls and the conflicts in America's life more than she does the relationships between her and the men. I feel that this was an important element to the story, considering the whole story was not focused on the romantic element.
Overall, I would give this trilogy 5 stars. It was full of surprises and kept you on the edge of the seat with every page you turned.

FANGIRL REVIEW (SPOILERS)
ALRIGHTY FOLKS. THIS STORY MESSED MY FEELS UP AND I'M ABOUT TO TELL YOU WHY. SO SHUT UP.
FIRST OF ALL, THERE WAS THE WHOLE THING WITH ASPEN. SHE FREAKING LOVED HIM, AND HE LEFT HER FOR "HER OWN GOOD." EXCUSE ME, I'M SORRY, I DON'T THINK I HEARD YOU CORRECTLY. THEN HE SHOWS UP AT HER FREAKING CEREMONY WITH ANOTHER GIRL. FREAKING NO. SO SHE GOES TO THE CASTLE AND THEN CELESTE WALKS IN AND FROM THE START. FROM THE FREAKING START. YOU CAN TELL SHE'S GONNA BE THE MEAN GIRL. AND THEN MAXON'S ALL SEXY AND YOU JUST. UGH. AND THEY MET IN THE MOST INCONVENIENT WAY, TOO. OH MY GOD. AND THEN ASPEN (FREAKING ASPEN) HAS TO SHOW UP AS A GUARD AND FREAKING GUARD HER FREAKING DOOR. AND THEN SHE'S ALL CONFLICTED AND YOU'RE SCREAMING "PICK MAXIN YOU IDIOT" BUT NOOOO. SHE'S GOTTA THINK ABOUT IT. AND THEN MARLEE, HER ONLY FRIEND, GETS CAUGHT DOING THE DIRTY ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)   WITH A SOLDIER AND THEY FREAKING GET A LARGE STICK BANGED DOWN ON THEIR HANDS BECAUSE YOLO, RIGHT? AND THEN REBEL ATTACKS AND BAM NEXT BOOK. BASICALLY NOT A LOT HAPPENS EXCPT A LOT OF PEOPLE LEAVE AND OH YEAH. THEY'RE HIDING FROM REBELS AND THEY'RE ALONE AND MAXON'S BACK IS ALL JACKED UP BECAUSE HIS DAD BEATS HIM (FREAKING BEATS HIM) AND THEY'RE LIKE MAKING OUT AND STUFF AND AW A W. NEXT BOOK WOW. SO IT'S DOWN TO FOUR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE KING HATES AMERICA OH. SO THEN CELESTE (FREAKING CELESTE) DECIDES TO BE NICE AND THEN CUTE RAIN SCENES AND A SLEEPOVER MAKEUP PARTY BETWEEN THE GIRLS AND I LOVE IT. AND THEN MAXON AND AMERICA ARE GETTING ALL TANGLED UP IN BED BUT THEY DONT GET DOWN TO IT AND I WANTED TO SCRE AM BECAUSE THAY WERE TELLING EACH OTHER THAT THEY LOVED ONE ANOTHER AND THEN AMERICA GETS SHOT OH. AND THEN AMERICA'S DAD DIES BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY ALL OF THE BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO AMERICA. AND THEN MAXON SAYS HE'S GOING TO MARRY HER AND YOU'RE CELEBRATING AND STUFF BUT OH NOOOO. RIGHT AFTER MAXON LEAVES SHE AND ASPEN ARE JOKING AROUND AND SHE PUTS HER HANDS ON HIS CHEST TO FREAKING PLAYFULLY SHOVES HIM AND THEN FREAKING MAXON COMES AROUND THE CORNER WITH FREAKING KRISS AND THEN HE MISTAKES IT FOR ROMANCE. FREAKING. ROMANCE. AND THEN HE FREAKING CALLS OFF THE FREAKING ENGAGEMENT. THEN BAM A REBEL ATTACK AND CELESTE (FREAKING CELESTE) GETS SHOT IN THE HEAD. OH MY GOD. AND MAXON ALMOST DIES AND HIS LAST WORDS TO HER BEFORE SHE GOT DRAGGED AWAY WAS "BE HAPPY" AND I CAN'T TAKE IT. SO SHE'S THINKING HE DIED AND THEN AFTERWARDS SHE FINDS OUT THAT THE KING DIED SO LIKE YAY BUT THEN SHE FINDS OUT THAT THE QUEEN DIED ALSO AND RETDYVUBH. SO THEN SHE GOES TO SEE MAXON AND HE'S ALIVE AND HE PROPOSES TO HER OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I CAN'T. I COULDN'T. I WON'T EVER BE ABLE TO. THEN THE WEDDING AND IT'S NOT HAPPILY EVER AFTER. IT'S SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. BRB CRYING. ASPEN GAVE HER AWAY I CANT TAKE IT. BRB GOING TO DIE.
10,000 STARS.
THANK YOU, KIERA CASS, FOR RUINING MY EMOTIONS.
